Newly appointed High Commissioner of India to Singapore, Mr. Jawed Ashraf presents credentials

PRESS RELEASE

The newly appointed High Commissioner of India to Singapore, Mr. Jawed Ashraf assumed office on 16 November 2016 and presented his credentials on 23 November 2016 to the President of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam at the Istana Presidential Palace of Singapore. 

President Tan emphasized the importance that Singapore attaches to its relations with India, expressed happiness at the excellent state of bilateral relations, lauded the rapid progress in expansion of cooperation in recent years and conveyed his hopes for further transformation of the relationship between the two countries, that was bound by history, culture, strong people-topeople ties, broad range of common interests and shared pursuit of prosperity.

President Tan conveyed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic vision, his bold decisions and India’s impressive progress under his leadership.

 The High Commissioner of India conveyed to President Tan warm personal greetings of President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the high level of importance that both leaders attach to India’s Strategic Partnership with Singapore and Singapore’s key role in India’s economic transformation and regional and global endeavours.  He also conveyed that he was deeply honoured and privileged to serve in Singapore at a moment of growing dynamism, diversity and depth in India-Singapore cooperation, the excellent people-to-people ties and an extraordinary range of regional and global challenges of common interest.  

 The High Commissioner also conveyed India’s gratitude for President Tan’s personal contribution in diverse capacities to the strengthening of bilateral relations.
