Tourist Visa is granted to a Foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sight-seeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives, attending a short-term yoga programme. No other activity/purpose is permissible on a Tourist Visa.

Tourist visa is neither extendable nor can be used for other purposes including any type of work - domestic works/employment/contract/business while in India. Total stay in India on a Tourist Visa should not exceed 180 days in a Calendar year and each stay should not exceed 90 days (in a trip) which may be seen in the Visa endorsements.  

Documents required:

• 1.  Print out of the online application form duly signed.

• 2. One latest colour photograph with white background (size 2”x 2”)

• 3. Original passport with validity of at least 6 months (Minimum 2 blank pages should be available to stamp the visa)

• 4. Photocopy of passport bio-page and IC copy (NRIC, EP, S Pass or WP)

Note : For nationals of Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistan origin and Stateless persons, holding tourist visas, a gap of two months between the date of last exit from India and the date of re-entry is mandatory. 

For the other countries, this restriction of maintaining two months gap between two visits is no more valid now.

Singapore/Foreign Nationals of Indian origin who requires travelling frequently to India on account of familial or related obligations must apply for Entry (X-1) visas which are granted for longer validity with more benefits.
