VISIT OF INDIAN NAVAL SHIP RANA TO SINGAPORE

Indian Naval Ship Rana commanded by Captain Atul Deswal, arrived at Changi Naval Base, Singapore on 01 Nov 18 for a four-day goodwill visit.

The ship is amongst the frontline destroyers of the Eastern Fleet which operates as part of the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy, based at Visakhapatnam. This visit forms part of the Overseas Deployment of the Eastern Fleet in the East Asia maritime region.

During the ship’s stay at Singapore, the ship’s crew would undertake a series of interactions with the Republic of Singapore Navy including meetings with senior officers, visits to the Information Fusion Centre and reciprocal visits by personnel of both Navies to each other’s ships. The ship’s crew will also offer community service in one of the Old Age Homes at Yishun run by Sree Narayana Mission.

This visit comes amid deepening ASEAN-India ties as witnessed during the visit of Indian Defence Minister to Singapore during ADMM Plus in Oct 18 and the forthcoming 25th edition of India-Singapore Bilateral Maritime Exercise (SIMBEX) scheduled to be held in India later this month.
