High Commission of India organized a beach cleaning event as part of India's G20 Presidency and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with community participation on 21st May 2023 at Pasir Ris Beach in Singapore. It was conducted to draw global attention to the problem of litter, especially marine plastic litter and its impact, and also to mobilize collective action in the G20 and Guest Countries for beach cleaning. 

High Commissioner of India, P. Kumaran addressed the gathering and thanked them for their enthusiastic participation. He also delivered the following pledge:

I understand that a clean and healthy Ocean is vital for life on earth
I understand that the Ocean must be protected from pollution and waste
I understand that my behaviour impacts the environment
I understand that I have the power of choice
I understand that my efforts will make a difference
I pledge to collect the trash and leave no litter on the beaches
I pledge to spread awareness about the harmful impact of plastics on marine life
I pledge that I shall strive to adopt a sustainable and environment friendly lifestyle
I pledge to live in harmony with nature
