AirLift of Oxygen Containers to India

1. On April 24, 2021 four cryogenic oxygen containers were transported from Changi Air Freight Terminal on board a C-17 military aircraft of the Indian Air force to Panagarh Air Base in India. The aircraft which took off from Hindon AirForce Base at 0245 IST arrived at Changi at 1015 SGT. After loading of the containers, the flight departed Singapore at 1435 hrs(SGT) and arrived in India at 1630 hrs(IST).

2. This was the first tranche. More such shipments are to follow, consequent to a procurement agreement between Tata Steel Group of Companies and Linde Gas (India) Pvt Limited. The tanks are being sourced through Linde Gas, Singapore.

3. The High Commission of India coordinated the transport of these tanks and is grateful for the full support received from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Singapore; Ministry of Defence, Singapore; Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore; Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) Singapore; SATS Ltd and Changi Airport. On the Indian side, the transport of the tanks was coordinated by the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs.

4.The High Commission continues to make intensive efforts to source more ISO tanks from Singapore, and the region in general.

5. We are currently making arrangements in anticipation of transporting the next tranche of containers on 27 April 2021.
