Shri Narendra Modi was sworn in on Monday as India’s 15th Prime Minister on the 26th of May 2014 at 18:12 hours. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the forecourts of the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.
The occasion was graced by more than 3500 dignitaries including Vice-President Mr. Hamid Ansari, former Presidents Mrs. Pratibha Patil and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, outgoing Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Mauritius Prime Minister Mr. Navin Ramgoolam and Heads of SAARC Nations. Among the SAARC heads were Pakistan PM Mr. Nawaz Sharif, Sri Lankan President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa, Afghanistan President Mr. Hamid Karzai, Nepal PM Mr. Sushil Koirala, Bhutanese Prime Minister Mr. Tshering Tobgay and Maldives' President Mr. Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Ms. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, the speaker of Jatiyo Sangshad, (the House of the Nation) represented Bangladesh.
Besides Prime Minister Modi, the other Cabinet Ministers who took oath of office on 26th May were Mr. Rajnath Singh, Ms. Sabha Sushma Swaraj, Mr. Arun Jaitley, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Mr.DV Sadananda Gowda, Ms. Uma Bharti, Ms. Najma Heptulla, Mr.Gopinath Munde, Mr.Ram Vilas Paswan, Mr.Kalraj Mishra, Ms. Maneka Gandhi, Mr. Ananth Kumar, Mr.Ravi Shankar Prasad, Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Mr. Anant Geete, Ms. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Mr.Narendra Singh Tomar, Mr. Jual Oram, Mr. Radha Mohan Singh, Mr. Thawar Chand Gehlot, Ms. Smriti Irani and Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
